African American Caucus North Carolina Democratic Party

Congratulations to the African American Caucus of the North Carolina Democratic Party. The caucus has grown from 45 members state wide to over 208 statewide in less than two years. The AAC NCDP is the only African American Caucus recognized by the North Carolina Democratic Party State Executive Committee. Its official web site is aacncdp.org The AAC was created by African American Democrats during the 2003 state convention. But these fast and efficient gains have occurred under the leadership of the current President Mr. Harold Hairston of Forsyth County. Mr. Hairston is also one of the founding members of the State Caucus. He was elected to the office of President at the AAC State Convention in 2009, taking the reigns from outgoing State President Mrs. Chenita Johnson. Mr. Hairston was recognized and congratulated by then NCDP Chair David Young in 2010 for his leadership and he has been recognized this year by current Chair David Parker. His leadership is supported by effective active and hard working officers: Mrs. Whitman 1st VP; Paul B. Johnson 2nd VP; Deborah Williams 3rd VP; Tamesha Gladman Secretary; Gloria Phoenix Treasurer; Doug Wilson Parliamentarian. The AAC is always at the forefront of the political spectrum for African Americans and introduced an endorsement sheet of candidates for the 2011 State Party elections with great success. They are also coordinating efforts for local contentions such as education and jobs. AAC County caucuses include Forsyth, Mecklinberg, Wake, Rockingham, Jones, Durham, Alamance, Bertie, Bladen,Brunswick, Catawba, Cumberland with more being added.
